DGP sanctions over Rs. 1.65 crore as special welfare, ex-gratia relief

Jammu: With an aim to provide financial succor to the families of the Police personnel/SPOs who have attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service, Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over rupees 165.65 crore as Special Welfare Relief for NoKs of such deceased Police personnel/ SPOs, a police spokesman said Friday.
He said that vide different PHQ Orders an ex-gratia relief of rupees 38 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of Constable Javid Hussain Kambay. The special welfare relief of rupees 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personnel HC Nardeel Singh, SgCts Ranjeet Singh and Amir Hassan, Ct Ajad Shatru and Follower Naseer Ahmad. The deceased personnel have passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service.
Rupees one lakh each was already paid to NoKs of these martyr/deceased police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.
Similarly rupees 6 lakh each as Special Welfare Relief has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPOs Roshan Lal and Basharat Hussain and rupees 5 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPO Sanjay Kumar who passed away during the course of their engagement in the department.
Rupees 50 thousand was already paid to their families for performing last rites. The amount is sanctioned out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs, the spokesman added.
Besides, DGP has also sanctioned Rupees 50 thousand as financial assistance/medical relief in favour of SPO Rattan Singh and Rupees 15 thousand in favour of SPO Roshan Lal to defray expenses in connection with medical treatment.
Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses, he added.
