Srinagar: Police in Kupwara in north Kashmir solved a burglary case by arresting an accused person involved in the crime and recovered stolen cash from his possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police received a complaint from Intekhab Aalam Bhat of Gani Mohalla Baramulla stating therein that during the intervening night of 27-28th April, some unknown burglars have barged his shop situated at Kupwara and stolen away cash present in the shop.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 98/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kupwara and investigation was started.
During the course of investigation, a special investigation police team using all available means zeroed in on a suspect identified as Mohammad Shahid Salmani son of Abdul Aziz Salmani resident of Bijnour Uttar Pradesh A/P running a barber shop at Hajaj Market Kupwara.
When officers spoke to him they learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime. On his disclosure, stolen cash ₹1,53,880 has been recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where remain in custody. Further investigation of the case is going on to find out his possible involvement in other criminal cases, the spokesman added.
