Hand grenade recovered from soldier’s baggage at Srinagar airport

Srinagar:  A hand grenade was recovered on Monday from the baggage of an army soldier at Srinagar International Airport, an official said.

“Around 9.30 a.m. today, a hand grenade was recovered from the baggage of an army soldier during screening at the drop gate of Srinagar airport.

“The soldier identified as Balaji Sampath of Tamil Nadu from whose baggage the grenade was recovered was travelling from Srinagar to Chennai via Delhi by Indigo flight,” an official said.

He has been handed over to police at the Humhama police post, an official at the airport said.
