Khalid Jahangir assumes charge as DC Kupwara

KUPWARA: Khalid Jahangir Wednesday assumed the charge of office as Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara. He was given warm reception on his arrival by the officers and officials at DC Office, here.

Khalid Jahangir has earlier served on several important positions including Chairman, J&K Services Selection Board, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara.

Soon after assuming the charge, the Deputy Commissioner convened an introductory meeting in his office chamber, during which he also received a brief feedback of developmental profile of the district.

While addressing the meeting, the DC urged upon the officers and field functionaries to work with added dedication, sincerity and honesty so that the developmental plans/schemes approved for the current financial year are executed with efficiency and quality within the prescribed timelines.

“The foremost requirement for ensuring delivery of services and expediting developmental activities is availability of officers and functionaries’’, he said.  He also stressed the need for maintaining punctuality in government offices and adopt people friendly approach to resolve the public grievances.

He directed officers not to leave station without proper permission, adding that availability of officers in the offices is itself 50 percent resolution of the public issues.

Khalid Jahangir said delivery is the most important to achieve the targets within the timeline. He advised the officers to ensure field visits as one physical look is greater than 1000 reports, adding that the field visits should be visible to the public and given proper press coverage.

The DC asked officers to accelerate the development tempo in the district to ensure completion of works within the shortest possible time. He said the present age resourceful and technologically driven so it is easy to complete any task within the target period.

Recalling his earlier tenure in the district, he assured the citizens of Kupwara that best possible efforts will be made to serve the public and give fillip to the developmental activities by galvanizing the administrative apparatus. He got the feedback of the projects started in his earlier tenure. He sought cooperation of PRIs, general public and civil society in putting the district on a trajectory of growth and prosperity.

He said, “Our thrust shall be to accelerate developmental tempo and monitor welfare programmes at grassroots level across the district”.

He said that resolution of public issues and grievances shall also be the priority of the district administration.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; JD Planning; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM Lolab, Assistant Commissioner Development; SEs and XENs of various wings,  District Information Officer, AD Planning and other district and sectoral officers were present in the meeting.
