Bandipora: An independent candidate supported by National Conference won Drugmullah district development council (DDC) seat in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district by a razor-thin margin, while Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party secured victory in Hajin- A seat.
According to details available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), advocate Aminah Majeed, who had filed nomination papers as an independent candidate from Drugmullah seat in 2020, managed to win by a slim margin of 39 votes. Aminah was supported by National Conference.
Aminah secured 3259 votes while her nearest rival Shabnam Rehman managed to get 3220 votes. Shabnam had filed nomination papers as Peoples Democratic Party candidate in 2020. She was supported by Peoples Conference.
In Hajin-A seat, Apni Party candidate won by 416 votes. While Apni Party polled 2606 votes, PC candidate secured 2283 votes.
National Conference secured 2178 votes in Hajin- A seat—(KNO)
