Govt has failed on all fronts, hold Assembly elections in J&K at the earliest: NC

JAMMU : Dr Gagan Bhagat, Spokesperson, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has castigated the government for its utter failure on all fronts in this sensitive Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He attributed this failure of the government to the absence of a duly elected representative government for so many years now and demanded that Assembly elections in J&K be held at the earliest.

He expressed this while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters Sher-i-Kashmir Bhavan here today. Zeeshan Rana, Additional Spokesperson JKNC was also present during the press conference.

The senior National Conference leader said that Govt’s biggest and atrocious failure is on the security front as it has miserably failed to secure the lives of the people of J&K with target killings going on unabated and now having assumed a new dimension by spreading its tentacles even to the Jammu Division.

Dr Gagan lamented that the incumbent government is fiddling with the future of youth Jammu and Kashmir with recruitment scams having becoming the hallmark of this Govt. The youth can find only bleak future in front of them in such a situation with a substantial number of them getting over aged in the process dominated by grey areas. The job word has become an inseparable part of BJP Govt’s utterances but there are virtually no jobs for the youth as promised before elections or after abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, he added.

Zeeshan Rana, Addl Spokesperson JKNC, said that the government has crossed all the limits and is making every effort to thrust its orders on the people in general and its employees in particular. He stated that this is evident from the lathi-charging on the peacefully protesting employees, the latest one on the Rehbar-e-Khel employees who were peacefully highlighting their genuine demands guaranteed to them under the Constitution. He said that listening to people’s issues and addressing the same by the Govt is the hallmark of a welfare state but unfortunately things are going the other way round here in Jammu and Kashmir and the people have been left to fend for themselves.

Asserting that elected Govt is always better than the bureaucratic setup rather’ bureaucratic autocracy’ in case of J&K, Zeeshan Rana said that as of today there is a huge gap between the people and the governing lords which has multiplied people’s miseries and led to hue and cry and ultimately utter chaos across this territory.

The Additional Spokesperson said that only a duly elected Govt is the solution to all the problems here and demanded the holding of Assembly elections in J&K at the earliest.
