LG to take salute at main Republic Day function in Jammu

Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside and take salute on the main Republic Day function at Jammu on January 26.

In a communique, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the General Administration Department has conveyed to the divisional commissioners of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions that Lieutenant Governor shall preside over the function and take salute on the main Republic Day function at the M.A. Stadium, Jammu.

As per the programme, LG’s advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar will take salute at main function in summer capital Srinagar.

The GAD communique states that chairpersons of district development councils will preside over the functions and take salute at respective district headquarters.

The letter further states that block development council chairpersons and presidents of municipal council and committees shall preside over the function(s) and take salute at respective block headquarters and municipal headquarters.

“In case block headquarters and municipal headquarters are the same, two separate functions shall be organized, “the letter states.

The government has said that the sub-divisional magistrate/tehsildar/senior-most civil officer will take the salute at the respective sub-division/tehsil in case BDC chairperson/president council/committee is not available—(KNO)
