Ganderbal: The authorities on Saturday said around 314 kilometers of road length in this central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have been cleared of snow even as the operation was going on.

Executive Engineer R&B Tatheer Manzoor told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that snow clearance operations were on since early morning in the district.

“In the Ganderbal sub-division, we have cleared 20 km of road length, 20 km in Lar sub-division, and 40 km in Kangan sub-division,” he said.

He said the district administration has taken all necessary precautions to ensure that the roads are not damaged during snow-clearing operations. The snow blades on the plows have been set at a height of 2-3 inches above the road surface, which helps to prevent damage to the road while still effectively removing the snow, he said.

Tatheer said the administration is closely monitoring the situation and providing all necessary assistance to keep the roads safe and clear for the residents.

Sharing details about snow clearance, the Xen as per KNO said the road length requiring clearance is 338 km and till now 314 km have been cleared.

Talking about the clearance operation in Kangan, he said that 160 km out of 178 km have been cleared till now, and in the Lar area 93 km out of 96 km have been cleared. In the Ganderbal sub-division, 55 km out of 64 km have been cleared, he added.

Talking about machinery operating in the area, Xen said that 23 JCBs and 17 tractors were on job—(KNO)
