Srinagar: After the water supply remained suspended for more than 15 hours in Srinagar parts, the officials at Jal Shakti department said it was restored on Saturday afternoon.
A senior official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the water pipeline catering to most of Srinagar city had accidentally been damaged. The supply line was however restored today afternoon, he said.
Earlier, a 300 mm dia water supply pipeline catering to most of the city areas like Lal Chowk, Khayam, partly Rajbagh, Khanyar, Safakadal, and other areas was “accidentally” damaged during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday due to the ongoing work taken up by the Srinagar Smart City.
On Saturday morning, KNO received reports of dry taps from many areas of Srinagar where people complained that they had to face a lot of issues.
The official said the work on the damaged pipeline was started overnight only and today afternoon it was completed. Now it has been repaired and the water supply has been restored.
“We also conveyed to the concerned officials of the Srinagar Smart City to inform the Jal Shakti department before undertaking work so we can apprise them about the water pipelines,” the official said—(KNO)
