Khatta Singh, the former driver of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, said Honeypreet could be hiding in Sirsa itself.
At the special CBI court in Panchkula, where the trial in the murder cases against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh began, a former driver of the jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief today said that he is willing to appear as a witness in the cases.
In an exclusive interview to India Today, Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s former driver Khatta Singh said that he “has a lot of new things to add” to the cases and will make those revelations only in front of the judge.
Khatta Singh had earlier changed his statements in 2007 due to alleged threat to his life. “Khatta Singh had changed his 2007 statement in 2012 out of fear,” Khatta Singh’s lawyer Navkiran Singh said.
The former driver of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has now filed an affidavit in the court and the latter will decide on September 22 whether to record his statement or not in the case.
Khatta Singh told India Today that he was worried about his safety and “was intimated”. “He (Ram Rahim) was a powerful man, he could do anything. Today, I want to give a fresh statement,” said Khatta Singh, the former driver of the jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief.
On Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s adopted daughter and close aide Honeypreet, who has reportedly gone underground, Khatta Singh said that “she could be anywhere in Pune, Chhattisgarh or Himachal Pradesh”.
The Dera Sauda chief’s former driver said that he would not be surprised if Honeypreet is “found hiding in Sirsa itself”. Earlier reports said that Honeypreet may have fled to Nepal, and a slew of raids were conducted along the Indo-Nepal border and at the houses of her relatives in Delhi.
The headquarters of the Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa, Haryana, were recently searched by police and paramilitary personnel besides officials of various government departments.
