‘Freedom fighters never target civilians’

Strongly condemning Thursday’s grenade blast at Jahangir Chowk, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Mahmood Shah on Friday termed the attack as “extremely coward act” by forces. He said “freedom fighters” have always targeted Indian forces and that no civilian has ever been the victim.

A spokesperson of LeT Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement issued to GNS, quoted outfit chief as saying that the unity and harmony between “Mujahideen” and people stands “stronger than ever”.

“No Indian doctrine can ever succeed in (its) vicious plans. Indian forces are deliberately trying to create a chaotic environment before the official visit of (home minister) Rajnath Singh so as to impose barbarism upon innocent civilians,” Ghaznavi quoted Shah as saying.

LeT chief, the spokesperson said, warned those “who are trying to disrupt the freedom struggle’s activities while playing into the hands of India (by) constantly propagating evil plots to hurt the (movement)”. “They are in our sight. We warn them that they must put a stop to their treachery otherwise they will be exposed (before) public.”

“The noble cause of the freedom of Kashmir is written by countless sacrifices of our martyrs and we won’t let the blood of our martyrs go (in) vain. We will fight the occupational forces of India till our last breath until we get our rightful freedom,” Ghaznavi quoted Mahmood Shah as saying.

The LeT appealed people to observe a strike on the official visit of Rajnath Singh to “reject the slavery of a tyrant”
