One more youth falls into death trap in Nallah Mawer in less than a month, dies on spot

JCBs continue digging out death traps for extracting sand, Bajri
Langate, Jul 15: In less than a month one more youth has fallen into a death trap dugout by JCBs used illegally for extraction of sand and Bajri in Nallah Mawer in Langate constituency of Kupwara district.
The youth died on spot and pall of gloom descended in the entire population in the area. The high ups of district administration are still clueless.
According to the KNS correspondent, eyewitness said one more youth identified as Aabid Ahmad Tantary (22) S/o Gh Mohd Tantary resident of Banday Mohalla Handwara fell into a death trap and died on spot in Nallah Mawer of Langate constituency in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
As soon as the news about the death of the youth spread in the area, the people were panicked and ran in panic towards the trouble spot to bring the body of the deceased youth to his house.
As reportedly already a youth died earlier this month after he felt into a death trap dugout by JCBs extracting sand and bajri in violation of a 2014 High Court Directive in nallah Mawer.
Though the residents had presented a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara to stop the extraction of sand and bajri by JCBs but no action has been taken to stop the illegal extraction of sand and bajri due to which death traps created by JCBs have changed nallah mawer into a killer nallah.
Repeatedly attempts to reach Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara failed as their mobile handsets were found switched off. (KNS)
