PM Modi to lay the foundation stone of Zojila Tunnel on May 19

Meets delegation from Ladakh led by MP Thupstan Chhewang

New Delhi, 28 March 18: A delegation from Ladakh called on the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today to expressing their gratitude for the various mega projects sanctioned by the Union Government including but not limited to the Zojila Tunnel, inclusion of Kargil in UDAN 2.0, four laning of Kargil-Zanskar highway, sanctioning of Panikhar-Kishtwar road among others.
Member of Parliament Ladakh, Shri Thupstan Chhewang apprised the PM about the relief with which people of the region received the news of these mega projects for one of the remotest region of the country. He further said that the country can move forward only if the borders are strengthened not only in terms of security but also in terms of taking care of the people of the border regions. “Only a decisive and strong willed yet emphatic leadership can take every corner of the country together on the path of development,” MP Ladakh said. He said it was a historic occasion for the people of Ladakh. He invited the PM to Ladakh for laying the foundation stone of the Zojila Tunnel and the centenary celebrations of Padma Bushan

PM Modi received the delegation with great warmth and said that his government is committed to equal development of every region of the country. He further said, “Our government firmly believes in the mantra of Sab ka Saath Sab ka Vikaas. People of Kargil and Leh have a special place in my heart for they have been standing shoulder to shoulder with our armed forces braving the harshest of the weathers. My office is always open for the people of Kargil and Leh.” Accepting the invitation to lay the foundation stone of Zojila, the Prime Minister said that he is pleased that he has been able to serve the people of the nation and would visit the region on 19 May 2018 to lay the foundation stone. He acknowledged the services rendered by Padma Bushan His Holiness19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche and assented to attend the birth centenary celebrations.

Shri Mohd Ali Majaz President BJP Unit Kargil interacting with the PM thanked him on behalf of the people of Kargil. He said “Zojila Tunnel and Air Service have been long pending demands of the people of Kargil. All the previous government have been putting it on the back-burner. People of Kargil extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister. PM Modi has proven that he is a man of action and delivered on all the promises to the nation.”

The delegation comprised of Shri Dorje Motup Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh and senior BJP leader, Executive Councillor’s LAHDC Leh and Shri Mohd Hassan Pasha BJYM J&K State Sectrey.
