Second encounter of 2021 starts in South Kashmir, 2-3 militants trapped


Pulwama, Jan 29: A gunfight broke out between  Security forces and militants at Batpora Lelhara village area in Southern Pulwama district on Friday evening.

An official said that a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

A police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and trapped militants.

As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the encounter. (KDC)
